Falling for Fall and Baby Update

Monday morning Jared and I decided to go on a free date - walking! It was BEAUTIFUL outside. 82 degrees, light breeze, and the leaves were turning colors. We drove to the Prince William Forest Park and went for a walk! We also figured this might help speed up Baby's arrival!

There couldn't have been a more perfect autumn day EVER! Though the past days have also been beautiful! We spent 2 and a half  hours walking, talking, relaxing, training Bella, watching her fascination with the leaves and all the forest animals, and falling in love with fall. And who couldn't fall in love with this season?! After our walk, i became a "fall" person - and I must admit, I never was before!

It was the best! We had not had the chance to have such a relaxing time in a very long time!

After our great date we thought for sure the baby would come soon! But Tuesday's appointment confirmed a very, VERY happy baby with a crazy strong heartbeat who would prefer to stay inside my tummy! Seems he's more stubborn than his parents! 38 weeks today, 2 more until his "due date", though the way we're going, it now seems it'll be later than that!!

Chasing Crickets

A couple nights ago Bella, our crazy puppy, decided she needed to go outside. I kept opening the door and letting her out because I kept thinking she REALLY needed to go to the bathroom. However, she kept getting distracted by everything she saw: a little bit of dust on the tiles in the back patio, the spider that for some reason thought she could outsmart the dog, the cars around, and of course the crickets. Those always get her!
I did this little exercise three times (open door, watch Bella get distracted, decide she really didn't "need" to go potty, call her in, close door, get settled on couch to watch a movie). By the fourth time I decided to be nice and let her play some. Maybe if she was able to get some more energy out she would finally go potty and come back in for the night. I opened the door and let her out. I watched her play with the crickets for a bit, she was chasing one cricket in the grass but staying where I could see her, so I turned around to make sure the door was closed. I turned back around and Bella was gone.
Usually when Bella gets distracted and decides to run chasing something (or someone) she also barks... A LOT. This time though, there was no barking; she didn't run away, she was completely focused trying to get the cricket. I called her name and she wouldn't answer. so I freaked. It was late, and I walked around trying to find her, calling her name. It felt like an eternity, I thought something happened to her. I checked the road thinking maybe she got hit by a car. Where was my dog?
After five minutes of trying to find her in the dark, she finally came from behind the neighbor's trees- she wasn't even far away!
At first I was upset, but when she came running and squatted down in front of me, like she does only when she knows she did something wrong, I couldn't be upset. With tears running down my cheeks, I grabbed my dog and held her close! I was so happy she was ok - even though half the time she drives me crazy!!

This reminded me of the story of the Prodigal Son, and it made me wonder how many times in my life I have left my Heavenly Father to quietly chase after crickets?! I know that if I stay with him, I'll have all the things I need ( food, water, treats, love, comfort etc!) I hear him calling, but somehow, those crickets seem so appealing I lose my way chasing them.

What crickets are you chasing?
It's wonderful to know that when I turn around and look for Him, He's there to hug me and bring me back home. He's always waiting for us to come back to Him - why not stop chasing silly insects and just stay in the comfort of our Father's arms?

37 week update

We went to the doctor yesterday for our weekly check up. After a long night of little sleep and timing super irregular contractions i was hoping to hear some crazy news- like that the baby was ready or almost ready... or something like that! Jared and i drove to the doctor's with bags ready to go. We even talked to Bella and attempted to explain that maybe a baby would come with us next time we saw her.
BUT.. NOT YET!!!
Baby is is "perfect" position, ready whenever he so desires, but we've made no progress toward actually having the baby in our arms! He is a good 6 to 6 1/2 pounds which is great news. The news was somewhat bittersweet. I shall miss having him kick and move in my tummy, but i cannot wait to see him and hold him and watch him grow!
Jared and i came back home with our bags and no baby... maybe next week?!

We did get to enjoy a little date to Subway and last night did our day 2 training of walking Bella on the treadmill and it WORKED!! She walked for a good five minutes, after she got over her fear of a moving floor. This means our puppy can exercise and get some energy out even when the baby is here and i can't walk outside in the cold! :) yay!!!

The longest update EVER!

So  i noticed i hadn't updated this in over a month! SORRY!! i have been meaning to do it, i just keep putting it off! So here is an update on our lives this past month.
We are now 3 weeks away from our due date. In the past 7 weeks:
  • My mom had a graduation celebration for Felipe and i which was so much fun!! It was so good to share the day with friends and family. We felt extremely blessed to have so many people around us, celebrating with us!
  • Both Felipe and Jaclyn have left for college and seem to be having a BLAST!
  • We celebrated Javier's 7th birthday and Julia's and Jordan's birthday too!
  • We had our first baby shower which was incredible! God has surrounded us by wonderful family and friends! This baby is loved
by so many people! All we can do is thank God for His love and provision!
  • We went to the hospital tour which answered many questions and calmed many of my fears - still not sure if i'm ready!
  • Jared and i signed covenant at Grace Baptist! It is so good to be back. It's crazy how much it has grown since we were there before! God has trully blessed that church and every ministry!
  • Last week we took pictures!!! it was our birthday gifts from the parents and it was the best idea EVER!! we love them! can't wait to print them out and frame them! I'm so glad we got them.

Since we last blogged, Jared and i both had multiple job interviews in different places but nothing had come through. After some conversations and prayer, we decided that i would wait to have the baby to continue applying to jobs and going to more interviews. We decided to let God work, and trust that He would continue providing for our needs - He has been so good to us! We continued to pray for a better job for Jared - a better schedule, pay and possibly benefits, and waited on the Lord to provide... and provide He did!!!
On September 1st, Jared got a call and an email from a potential job. They needed someone to start two days later. He called, talked to the recruiter, and got all the details. We prayed about it and two days later Jared started his new job! it is everything we prayed for and more! God continues to astonish us with His love for us and His wonderful providing ways.

Jared setting up the baby swing

Baby continues to grow (so do i). He also loves to move! Jared and i have sat down to watch him kick and move around - we can spend over an hour absolutely fascinated! We have a video of the baby moving but can't edit it to put it on here :( Every doctor's appointment brings better news, and as of last week the baby is ready to join us! So we're waiting!! Everything is pretty much set up and waiting for his arrival. Jared has installed car seats, bags are packed and ready, and the "plan" is all prepared!! CAN'T WAIT!!!

Tomorrow is our next doctor's appointment. We will see what he says. We are ready for just about anything since i've already started having contractions, though not regular enough to send us to the hospital.
I will update on any progress!! As ready as i am to meet our baby, i'm also overwhelmed by the thought that soon i will have this little one in my arms! AND i will definitelly miss the kicks and movements in my belly - they have been such a source of joy and laughter the past weeks!

Now i think i might try to see if i can sleep!!

Looooong, Sleepless nights!

The past months have been such an exciting time with this pregnancy. Everything is new and fascinating!! Everything EXCEPT the sleepless nights! At first, i would try to stay in bed hoping to go back to sleep at some point. Now, i have a list of things that i can do while the rest of the house sleeps. Here are some ideas for when you find yourself awake all night long - and need to occupy your time!
  • Watch House re-runs (thank you Sleuth!!!)
  • Read books and/or magazines
  • Stare at the wall - sometimes there is just not enough energy to do anything else.
  • Prenatal Yoga (regular yoga works too)
  • Manicure and pedicure
  • Jesus time
  • Write down to-do list (not very proactive since it mostly requires turning on lights and doing things that would most likely wake someone up!)
  • Stalk people on Facebook
  • Eat snacks!
  • When House is NOT on, change channels a hundred times in hopes of finding something good to watch.
  • Watch the sunrise - really the upside to my sleepless nights!
  • Do kick counts :) Baby is mostly the reason i'm up... though the doctor doesn't really care if he kicks more than 10 times in 3 hours... by the time i hit 50, we start counting again! lol (only applicable if there is a baby!)

Ten

That's how many weeks we have left until we get to meet our little boy!!! We are soo excited!!! i can't wait to actually see him and hold him! As much as i've loved feeling his kicking and moving around in my stomach,  my ribs will be very thankful when he stops using them as his playground!
We went to the doctor yesterday, and the baby is growing and is measuring exactly what he should be, has a VERY strong heartbeat, and does not like being bothered by doctors ( he kicked the heart machine twice while we were listening to him!!)
Now we just have to get ready for him to arrive.... and teach Bella that she's not the center of attention. I'm not sure which one will be harder...

AMAZING God

It always amazes me how great and powerful the God that created the universe and created us is.
Today we heard a sermon on John 1: 1-5. What powerful verses these are!
  • God is Logos (the Word),
  • He has been since the beginning
  • All is made through Him, and nothing is made without Him
  • He is life- which is light
  • Darkness shall not overcome (understand, overtake) light (which is life!)
What's more impressive and powerful than these verses is that God not only created all that is made, but He was incredibly creative, detailed, and loving when creating all that He made!
The video below reminded me of how little we are in comparison to all His creation... He is one AMAZING God!

The Awe Factor Of God - Francis Chan
Even more impressive, is that this SAME God
"... became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth" John 1:14
and even with all the wonderful glories He has made (as shown above), He has numbered the hairs on our head (Matt. 10:30)
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE AND LOVING GOD WE HAVE THE HONOR TO SERVE!!!

1 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
-Psalm 8

Where is time going?!

It's crazy how fast time passes! Our baby BOY is already 27 weeks old, Bella is a year and a day old, and we've been on the East Coast for 2 whole months! C.R.A.Z.Y!!!!!!!!!
The past 2 months have been full of family time- which we both REALLY needed and are so thankful for. They have also been full of trusting God and His plan, whatever that may be....

On much more exciting news, Little One is kicking a ton. It feels like he's playing soccer, doing gymnastics and acrobatic acts all in my stomach and all at the same time! As much as that's extremely enjoyable and a reason to smile, i am fearing for my sanity once he's actually born. If he's this active now, i have a feeling there will be very little rest come October!
He continues to grow, and therefore, my belly has been growing a ton. i feel bigger every minute!

Belly this evening!

Thirteen weeks left until we can meet our little baby! CAN'T WAIT!!! Now we just need name ideas!!

Tomorrow is my last day working at the summer school program. It has been such an adventurous month. 12 kindergarteners with a curriculum that asks them to keep an aquarium is definitely a recipe for hilarious questions and comments, dead fish and snails, interesting lesson plans, fun field trips and VERY smelly water! i will miss those kids so much! i can't believe how attached i get to kids even though i've only known them a month!
After tomorrow afternoon, we're back to the waiting game! I have an interview on Tuesday for a position here in Maryland. We'll see!!! Just praying for God's will!

22 Weeks!

YAY for an actual baby bump!!! It happened overnight, and hasn't stopped growing!!  Hopefully we'll be feeling some actual baby kicks soon! For now just glad to feel movement!!
We're so blessed!

New Beginings and GREAT happenings

We realize how absolutely terrible we are at blogging! We will try our best to be much better...
So after our four-day adventure cross-country, we have "settled" into my brother's room. By this i mean, we have the "essentials" in one room and the rest remains in boxes in a storage unit! Though it has been quite an adjustment, we are blessed to have such great parents who offer their homes so we can stay with them rent free until we get settled in the area!
This "getting settled" is taking a lot longer than both Jared and i planned for. I'm not sure what we expected, but it's been a month since the day we decided to move and it seems a LOT longer than that! We have sent applications and resumes EVERYWHERE we can think of! As of now Jared has gotten a job serving part time and i got a job for the month of July in the summer program. Please help us pray for more permanent jobs for both of us!
When we're not sending applications or going to places to ask for work, we have been spending time with the family! This alone is one INCREDIBLE blessing and more than enough of a reason to move back! Here are some pictures of Bella adjusting to life with a lot more love and attention than she was getting in New Mexico. She LOVES being near her family!
Two of our siblings graduated high school, and as it is the rule of younger siblings they excelled beyond what we ever accomplished when we were in high school! We are soooooooo proud of them! Congratulations Felipe and Jaclyn!!
UMD and App. State are two lucky institutions to have such wonderful students!

I think that's all for now!!! Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to find God's plan for our lives!

Bella's New Adventure

The STAIRS! Something she never had to worry about in New Mexico! Took her about a week to learn, and she's a PRO now!!
Thanks to Uncle Felipe who very patiently taught her the art of walking up the stairs!

Our First Family Road Trip

We're in Maryland!! YAY!! Our planned 3 day trip home, actually ended up being a 4 day ordeal! We had some trailer trouble along the way, and some car trouble at the end, but overall we had lots of fun and got to spend lots of quality time together!
Bella ready to go
We drove through a good part of the old Route 66!  This rest stop had a tribute to it! Soooo cool!!!
Adorable old couple i stalked for a minute just because my new camera rocks like that!

Silly picture in Oklahoma
 Our Driver!
The place where my car stopped for real in MD!

Now, we're finally home and looking for jobs and to see what God has in store for us here!

Jeremiah 29:11 ?!?

It's CRAZY how plans change in a matter of hours!  Our plan to stay in NM with a new and promising job was obviously not God's plan for us. It's been a really hard time for both Jared and me, and all we can do is trust that God knows better and He has greater plans for our lives.
Without this job, however, there is no reason to stay in Clovis, so as of today we are packing up our little apartment and moving East Coast. Five more days of New Mexico!
Through all this Jeremiah 29:11 is the verse that keeps running through my head. I guess this is the first time this verse has truly hit home. So now, all we have to do is believe it and trust God will show us his good and perfect will!

See you next week.. on the East Coast! :)

Recent Occurrences

**There are three weeks left until I graduate!! Praise the Lord!! I'm sooo excited!
**Jared was sick with some type of infection all last week, so the poor guy spent 87% of his time sleeping and the other part coughing and attempting to drink water. Bella, on the other hand, was having a blast with her dad home all day; she had someone to cuddle up to all day long! She was one happy puppy.

We are still waiting to find out what doors God will close and which one he will open. Kind of wish I was more like Jared and able to wait. I’m currently going crazy and asking God for neon signs every 3 minutes- just about!

On other news, little baby gave us a scare Sunday. I was having pain in my lower stomach and back all day. As the day progressed my back pain got worse. I laid on the floor at one point unable to move. Later that night, I wasn't able to get up off the couch. My back was hurting really bad. I texted Jared and contacted my dad. My dad told me to go to the ER, and Jared came to my rescue within 5 minutes! (A plus of living in such a small city- everything is 5 to 10 minutes away!)

The ER was not a very pleasant experience. We were the only ones there, but it still took 35 minutes to get inside. The doctor was a bit too busy making fun of the situation and didn't check my back - or the baby (until I told him to). He gave me lots of medicine for the pain. Unfortunately, nothing worked! Five hours later we went home to sleep. We did see the baby and he/she measured right at 12 weeks and 4 days! Praise the Lord! Our baby is healthy and growing (though you could not tell if you looked at me!)

Wednesday we got an appointment with the OB to actually see what was wrong with me, and get a real diagnosis! He checked the baby- we're officially on the 2nd trimester! :) YAY!!!! He also checked my back. After various tests he concluded that I have some pulled and torn muscles in my lower back and hip area which is causing pain all over my spine, hips and legs. Good news- it's not a terrible sickness! Bad news- Nothing can be done until after the baby is born! I have some mild muscle relaxers for now and am supposed to take it "easy". For the next 2 weeks I can't do Physical Education (Man am I going to miss playing kickball with a whole bunch of freshmen!!! NOT.) I'm supposed to relax as much as possible and see how the muscle relaxers work! We'll see. They helped me sleep yesterday which was great but the pain came back today and I was sleepy all day long! Hopefully the pain will start going away some within the next 2 weeks!

I finally learned how to upload images! :)

This is the baby at 6 weeks

This is a zoom of the baby at 12 weeks and 4 days. Not the best picture but at least we got to see the baby!

Music

I have discovered a new passion for Christian Music. I regularly listen to the Christian radio station, but every now and then i change it up and see what's new in the other stations. Also, i try to stay connected with my Colombian music and listen to it occationally. Lately, however, i don't care to listen to anything else but Christian music- Which is def. not a bad thing.
This week our local Christian station is doing it's spring drive (lot's of boring talk and much repetition) so i tried changing it to a secular station- that lasted 2.3 seconds, i decided to turn the radio off... I guess our little baby likes to praise God a lot- and not just to listen to music for the heck of it! -YES, i think it's the baby, it really never bothered me before. So, since the radio station is really just talking all week, Needtobreathe has been constantly playing in my car, and in the house.
We (baby and i) would like to share our favorite song though. It's our favorite because EVERY time we listen to it, i cry and fall into deep reflection of what our purpose is. It's the new song by Leeland and Brandon Heath (whom i LOVE): Follow You

You lived among the least of these
The weary and the weak
And it would be a tragedy for me to turn away.

All my needs you have supplied.
When i was dead you gave me life.
How could i not give it away so freely?

And i`ll follow you into the homes that are broken.
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

Use my hands use my feet
To make your Kingdom come
Through the corners of the earth
Until your work is done

`cause faith without works is dead
And on the cross your blood was shed
So how could i not give it away so freely?

And i`ll follow you into the homes that are broken.
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

I give all myself.
I give all myself
I give all myself.to you.

And i give all myself.
Yes i give all myself.
And i give all myself.to you.

And i`ll follow you into the homes that are broken
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

James 2:17
"So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

Isaiah 1:17
"Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression;bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause."

Plans, plans and more plans...

Everyone should already know that i live to make plans! If there was a planner out there where i could write out my plans for the next 5 years- MAN, I WOULD BUY IT! God however, has decided that my 5-year-plan is really not what He wants for us! The past weeks have been eye-opening, life-changing weeks.
Obviously, our plan to not have kids until Jared graduated from college (and i got my masters- possibly) was not really THE plan. Our little surprise= a very unexpected blessing! Also, Jared and i had our minds set on moving to VA in May! We were setting the exact date for our move. Two weeks ago we had a "moving plan" conversation, later that Friday however, Jared got a RANDOM call from some man from the base.
This man (who remains unnamed- mostly because i can't remember his name), told Jared that he had gotten his information from some guy on base and would like to get Jared's resume. He wanted the resume THAT afternoon! This past Friday, after waiting a week with no calls, Jared called this man just to check in. Unfortunately, the man Jared needed to talk to about the job was out of town- but he was going to call us TODAY!
Last night, after a wonderful day and during a fun evening as we were sipping margaritas (virgin margarita for me,) Jared got a call from this man. It was 7 pm!!! Jared had an interview TODAY! We prayed last night, and this afternoon! He was really nervous, but then we decided to be at peace about it knowing that if it is God's will, this job will be his! He said that it went well! we are to hear from the company within the next 2 weeks! So please keep praying! We really are praying about this, because if he does get this job we will have to stay here in NM! This is a bitter sweet decision. We have a wonderful church and great friends here- i will also have a job for the next school year (God has blessed us a TON here!). However, we will stay soo far away from home! so there: our plans may or may not equal God's plan!
Proverbs 16:8 come to mind and hits home! "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps" HOW TRUE THIS IS!!!!!

Here we stand! with all OUR plans gone and waiting to see what God's plans are!:)
on other news:
We heard our baby's heartbeat yesterday! :) it was AMAZING! and soooooo fast! wish i had gotten a recording! Also, i love the fact that Jared gets off work to go to all doctor's appointments with me! He also reads the "pregnancy" magazines while we wait! lol!
Bella misses attention! She's soo spoiled, but i keep getting warnings to not let her be too close to me (i guess pets and pregnancy aren't really bffs). However, she has learned to walk on a leash! After months of trying she is finally able to go for walks with us. It is great! She does miss cuddling though! poor puppy!

Hopefully as school starts winding down, i will be able to blog more often!
Tomorrow will be Mexican Flan day- thanks to Jordan for the picture of that delish dish and the recipe!

SAMOAS!!!

We received a wonderful package in the mail yesterday!!! A large box from the parents! It had a roll of paper towels ( which immediately made it's way to the kitchen!), a beautiful Willow Tree, and Girl Scout Cookies!!! We had been asked for our favorites, and the only cookies i eat ever are Samoas. I have no idea why, but i LOVE those cookies! Jared got his Thin Mints, and i guess the Samoas were for both of us to share.
Yesterday though, the baby and i decided that the Samoas were ours, and Jared would just have to eat the Thin Mints!! :) After eating Samoas while watching The Biggest Looser, the baby and i wrote "Daddy" a note!
This is our new thing here. Usually any sweet,chocolaty,and/or delicious food happens to disappear when Jared gets home from work (and I'm asleep); we now write notes telling Jared the reasons why he should not eat the food. Now, the baby "writes" the notes!! He is reminded that babies need food, and nutrition. It seems to work! Jared only ate 2 or 3 Samoas and then had a some Thin Mints! :)
Besides cookies, we realized that water is not yummy, and since we need a lot we are attempting to find alternatives- fresh lemonade (or lime-ade)is our fave. drink! it allows me to drink all the water i need to drink without it being a chore. I know that I'm weird, but i cannot drink plain water-at least not usually.
We are still looking for apartments, we think we found some and we are going to send the application this week! We're still looking for jobs. Jared will finally have a day off Sunday-- maybe we'll have a date?!? We will be spending the rest of that day doing school stuff and finding jobs. Hopefully all this hard work will be worth it come May!
Bella, our crazy dog, is FINALLY potty trained, she now barks and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She still LOVES socks- mostly Jared's socks. Even though i have to make sure the closet is closed, the dirty laundry is not within her reach, and no socks are left around the room, i am glad she is a "sock- dog" and not a "Shoe-dog"! Besides socks, she has also decided she likes wires. She has successfully chewed through one of Jared's phone chargers and the cord to a massage chair thing Jared had under the bed! And she also likes snow. She's been lucky this year, since it is STILL snowing here in Clovis!
Two more months of New Mexico and of school (For me)! I can't wait! This actually just means that we have 2 months to finish a WHOLE bunch of goals we planned to accomplish-- gah! Prayers are definitely appreciated!
I also can't wait until May 13 to see my mom! So happy all 3 of our parents are coming for my graduation! I really did not expect/ plan for that at all- but it makes me VERY HAPPY!!!

Spring Break!!! :)

This year my spring break really never happened! Since we live in a different city than the one i go to school at, Spring Break did not match. Clovis had break this week, which meant that i didn't have work; Portales on the other hand, has spring break next week. This all means, that i did not get the week off i really longed for! Yesterday (Friday) was the extent of my Spring Break, no work and no school!! There were plans for such a wonderful day. My friend and coworker Megan and i were going to enjoy the sunny and warm weather and then i was going to clean and relax the rest of the day- PERFECT BREAK!!
Except, i woke up with a TERRIBLE migraine and it was super windy and COLD!!! This meant that my plans were gone! I spent the whole day in bed trying REALLY hard to get rid of the migraine. The fact that the medicine that would usually work is too strong and therefore i can't take it, and that i have a puppy who yesterday decided she wanted all the attention in the world-- well, that did not help at all!!!
I finally got out of bed with a "reasonable" headache in the afternoon and then decided that i wanted chicken rice (my mom's recipe) and mango juice! Called my mom for detailed step by step directions on how to make the rice- which did not turn out as good as hers ( i blame it on the chicken)!!! Thanks to the mangoes Jared got me earlier in the week, i was able to make mango juice- which was DELICIOUS!! :)
Good bye Spring Break!
Today was the release of NEW MOON on DVD and Blue Ray! Jared got it for me this morning which made me REALLY happy!! This evening we will be having a Twilight, New Moon marathon in my apartment. Megan, Bella, the baby, and me will be enjoying the story of high school romance between fictional characters!! :) And that will be the end of my spring break! :)
2 more months of school!! and after that HOPEFULLY we'll be moving to Blacksburg, VA. Still waiting for Tech's response!! Prayers appreciated!!

Craziness of Senior Year!!

We realized we haven't blogged in a whole week! In our defense the last week has been CRAZY! Midterms happened and thankfully are DONE! Also, I took the Praxis on Saturday which was a bit scary!I'm one step closer to graduating and to getting my teacher's license in VA (if that's where God is leading me)! Jared, on the other hand has been working INSANE hours which means that we don't get to spend much time together:/. Beside school and work, we have been praying about this summer's move and looking for apartments and jobs,(anyone know of any apartments and/or jobs in Blacksburg?). We are also waiting for Tech to send the acceptance letter! :D Nothing new here!! :)
Our little baby is doing great! I still want to sleep like 79% of the day-which I can't really do; and I have been craving crazy food! All week long I've been wanting to go to Grandma's house and eat some Coconut Rice! Since i am not anywhere near Grandma I have settled for other options. Taco Bell has been an alternative a couple of times, and Monday I REALLY wanted seafood. Jared, being the wonderful husband he is, took me on a date to Red Lobster!! That was the best meal EVER!!! Mangoes have definitely been on the want list and though they aren't the best right now, they were Yummy!! And ice-cream- I have wanted ice-cream about every day, I'm not even an ice-cream person!
We've also received amazing news from home this week! My brother received a full ride scholarship to UMD! We are soo proud of him! He had an interview last month to decide on the amount of financial aid, and we had been praying for him! This is super exiting news! I really wish i could be home to celebrate with him!! When i told Jared about my bro's news we decided that our baby has no excuse but to be academically EXCELLENT! With our siblings' accomplishments, we think there are good genes being passed down! So our baby already has high expectations to meet!! :)
Now Bella and i are going to go play for a bit before bed! Good night and Happy St. Pattrick's day!!!

1st Doctors Visit!

So we went to our first doctor's visit this afternoon. The whole day I was really excited and nervous. Excited because I was going to be able to know more about pregnancy and about my baby, and my many questions would be answered! Nervous because I haven't gained any weight, and most of the time I have absolutely no desire to eat, though I am hungry all the time!- so I thought I was going to be in trouble!
Jared met me there. :) Thankfully, our doctor was AMAZING! She is knowledgeable and sweet and so willing to answer every one of my questions. She said I was fine even with my lack of weight gain and said my lack of appetite was totally normal (extremely comforting). She did some tests and we were able to get a sonogram!
It was so incredible to see this little tiny baby! he/she is like 1/7Th of an inch!!(thanks to my husband for the math!)The best part definitely had to be seeing the heartbeat. Tiny little baby with a tiny little heart! Couldn't help but cry! God is sooo good!
After the doctor printed some pictures of our baby we went to find me some food! For the first time in a LONG time, McDonald's sounded good- so Jared took me to eat chicken nuggets, fries and sweet tea!
So this was our first visit to our doctor, after which i decided that a nap was necessary! :)Now off to study for midterms and for the Praxis which I'll be taking Saturday really early in the morning! eek!

Hello, Oh Beautiful Surprise!!

After seven months of being married and living in Clovis, we have decided to start a blog! This decision came mostly because God has been so VERY good and has continuously blessed us through the past months and we're sure will continue to do so. Also after last Saturday, we wanted to keep friends and family updated on the changes/decisions in our lives, and how those fit into God's all-knowing plan.
We would like to welcome our new soon-to-come addition to our family. Last Saturday we were surprised to discover that we are expecting our first baby! After the initial shock, we informed our family and friends over the weekend. We are SUPER excited, and God has put so many people around us to encourage and pray for us and the baby! We are so blessed to have so many friends that come along side us to say JUST what we need to hear! This baby is already loved by so many people!!! He/she is a very blessed child!!
So as we wait for October to come, we are trying to make decisions. We are mostly waiting to see what God has planned for us and cannot wait to find out! For now, Lissa will continue to finish her last semester at ENMU, and then we hope to move closer to home the week after graduation!
Welcome to our life as it currently stands - a bit in limbo. An exciting and thrilling, not-knowing season of our lives, where trusting God completely is all that we can do!
