Recent Occurrences

**There are three weeks left until I graduate!! Praise the Lord!! I'm sooo excited!
**Jared was sick with some type of infection all last week, so the poor guy spent 87% of his time sleeping and the other part coughing and attempting to drink water. Bella, on the other hand, was having a blast with her dad home all day; she had someone to cuddle up to all day long! She was one happy puppy.

We are still waiting to find out what doors God will close and which one he will open. Kind of wish I was more like Jared and able to wait. I’m currently going crazy and asking God for neon signs every 3 minutes- just about!

On other news, little baby gave us a scare Sunday. I was having pain in my lower stomach and back all day. As the day progressed my back pain got worse. I laid on the floor at one point unable to move. Later that night, I wasn't able to get up off the couch. My back was hurting really bad. I texted Jared and contacted my dad. My dad told me to go to the ER, and Jared came to my rescue within 5 minutes! (A plus of living in such a small city- everything is 5 to 10 minutes away!)

The ER was not a very pleasant experience. We were the only ones there, but it still took 35 minutes to get inside. The doctor was a bit too busy making fun of the situation and didn't check my back - or the baby (until I told him to). He gave me lots of medicine for the pain. Unfortunately, nothing worked! Five hours later we went home to sleep. We did see the baby and he/she measured right at 12 weeks and 4 days! Praise the Lord! Our baby is healthy and growing (though you could not tell if you looked at me!)

Wednesday we got an appointment with the OB to actually see what was wrong with me, and get a real diagnosis! He checked the baby- we're officially on the 2nd trimester! :) YAY!!!! He also checked my back. After various tests he concluded that I have some pulled and torn muscles in my lower back and hip area which is causing pain all over my spine, hips and legs. Good news- it's not a terrible sickness! Bad news- Nothing can be done until after the baby is born! I have some mild muscle relaxers for now and am supposed to take it "easy". For the next 2 weeks I can't do Physical Education (Man am I going to miss playing kickball with a whole bunch of freshmen!!! NOT.) I'm supposed to relax as much as possible and see how the muscle relaxers work! We'll see. They helped me sleep yesterday which was great but the pain came back today and I was sleepy all day long! Hopefully the pain will start going away some within the next 2 weeks!

I finally learned how to upload images! :)

This is the baby at 6 weeks

This is a zoom of the baby at 12 weeks and 4 days. Not the best picture but at least we got to see the baby!

Music

I have discovered a new passion for Christian Music. I regularly listen to the Christian radio station, but every now and then i change it up and see what's new in the other stations. Also, i try to stay connected with my Colombian music and listen to it occationally. Lately, however, i don't care to listen to anything else but Christian music- Which is def. not a bad thing.
This week our local Christian station is doing it's spring drive (lot's of boring talk and much repetition) so i tried changing it to a secular station- that lasted 2.3 seconds, i decided to turn the radio off... I guess our little baby likes to praise God a lot- and not just to listen to music for the heck of it! -YES, i think it's the baby, it really never bothered me before. So, since the radio station is really just talking all week, Needtobreathe has been constantly playing in my car, and in the house.
We (baby and i) would like to share our favorite song though. It's our favorite because EVERY time we listen to it, i cry and fall into deep reflection of what our purpose is. It's the new song by Leeland and Brandon Heath (whom i LOVE): Follow You

You lived among the least of these
The weary and the weak
And it would be a tragedy for me to turn away.

All my needs you have supplied.
When i was dead you gave me life.
How could i not give it away so freely?

And i`ll follow you into the homes that are broken.
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

Use my hands use my feet
To make your Kingdom come
Through the corners of the earth
Until your work is done

`cause faith without works is dead
And on the cross your blood was shed
So how could i not give it away so freely?

And i`ll follow you into the homes that are broken.
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

I give all myself.
I give all myself
I give all myself.to you.

And i give all myself.
Yes i give all myself.
And i give all myself.to you.

And i`ll follow you into the homes that are broken
Follow you into the world.
Meet the needs for the poor and the needy, God.
Follow you into the world.

James 2:17
"So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

Isaiah 1:17
"Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression;bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause."

Plans, plans and more plans...

Everyone should already know that i live to make plans! If there was a planner out there where i could write out my plans for the next 5 years- MAN, I WOULD BUY IT! God however, has decided that my 5-year-plan is really not what He wants for us! The past weeks have been eye-opening, life-changing weeks.
Obviously, our plan to not have kids until Jared graduated from college (and i got my masters- possibly) was not really THE plan. Our little surprise= a very unexpected blessing! Also, Jared and i had our minds set on moving to VA in May! We were setting the exact date for our move. Two weeks ago we had a "moving plan" conversation, later that Friday however, Jared got a RANDOM call from some man from the base.
This man (who remains unnamed- mostly because i can't remember his name), told Jared that he had gotten his information from some guy on base and would like to get Jared's resume. He wanted the resume THAT afternoon! This past Friday, after waiting a week with no calls, Jared called this man just to check in. Unfortunately, the man Jared needed to talk to about the job was out of town- but he was going to call us TODAY!
Last night, after a wonderful day and during a fun evening as we were sipping margaritas (virgin margarita for me,) Jared got a call from this man. It was 7 pm!!! Jared had an interview TODAY! We prayed last night, and this afternoon! He was really nervous, but then we decided to be at peace about it knowing that if it is God's will, this job will be his! He said that it went well! we are to hear from the company within the next 2 weeks! So please keep praying! We really are praying about this, because if he does get this job we will have to stay here in NM! This is a bitter sweet decision. We have a wonderful church and great friends here- i will also have a job for the next school year (God has blessed us a TON here!). However, we will stay soo far away from home! so there: our plans may or may not equal God's plan!
Proverbs 16:8 come to mind and hits home! "The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps" HOW TRUE THIS IS!!!!!

Here we stand! with all OUR plans gone and waiting to see what God's plans are!:)
on other news:
We heard our baby's heartbeat yesterday! :) it was AMAZING! and soooooo fast! wish i had gotten a recording! Also, i love the fact that Jared gets off work to go to all doctor's appointments with me! He also reads the "pregnancy" magazines while we wait! lol!
Bella misses attention! She's soo spoiled, but i keep getting warnings to not let her be too close to me (i guess pets and pregnancy aren't really bffs). However, she has learned to walk on a leash! After months of trying she is finally able to go for walks with us. It is great! She does miss cuddling though! poor puppy!

Hopefully as school starts winding down, i will be able to blog more often!
Tomorrow will be Mexican Flan day- thanks to Jordan for the picture of that delish dish and the recipe!
